About Hudson’s Photography

Don Hudson with his son Kevin Hudson

Don Hudson was the Assistant VP of the Commercial Loan Department at Citizen’s National Bank when by request he began photographing Weddings for close friends and family. After leaving the bank in 1980 he decided to turn his past time hobby into a professional photography business. Hudson’s Photography opened its doors in Oct. of 1983 on Washington Ave. by Papa’s. When Kevin joined the business in 1986, Don added on a small Hobby Shop in the front of the studio to fuel his lifelong passion for models and trains. A longtime woodworker and craftsmen, Don studied under Kathy Palmiter whose father owned a custom frame store in South Bend, IN, the art of custom framing. A jokester at heart, Don’s always got a new or old story to tell you. His favorite being, “if you let me charge an extra $500 I can go to the boat tonight!” Whether you need a new part for your train, you have photos you want to frame or you just want to chat, Don is your guy.

Kevin and Kaui of Hudson's Photography

Kevin Hudson started out taking every photography classes available in high school. He joined his father’s business, Hudson’s Photography in 1986. In ‘88 he started entering prints at the PPI State Convention and PPA’s Print Competition. In 1992 He was handed his PPA Masters Certificate by Indiana’s own, Vangie Parker, at the National Convention.

Kevin says, “I have been very lucky to make a living doing something I’m so passionate about for so many years. I am a pretty hyper and crazy guy and strive to try something different every time I walk into the camera room. I try to create a fun and spontaneous atmosphere when I shoot because it’s just as much about the experience as the final images”.

Kaui Nichols graduated from Loyola Marymount University in 2004 with a degree in Multimedia Arts & Computer Science. After graduating, she returned home to Hawaii where she worked at a boutique photography studio. “I loved being included in every aspect of the business from the everyday office work, to custom designing our products, selling to our clients, and many fun, off-the-wall projects. It was the greatest hands-on learning experience”. Through a great network of friends and referrals, she has been fortunate enough to travel and build loyal clients and lasting friendships.

Kevin and Kaui met at After Dark Education, a national convention for photographers, which meet 4 times a year at locations across the country. Kevin was a mentor (educator), offering his expertise in studio and location lighting and posing. Kaui was coordinating the event. They met in Cincinnati in May and Kaui joined Kevin in his Indiana based studio in Nov. of 2011. Together, Kevin’s love and tailored skill of capturing high school seniors naturally while enhancing their unique features and Kaui’s passion for freezing those “timeless moments” of your child or family’s bond, blend to create an unstoppable, free-spirited duo you’ll love spending time with. Kevin and Kaui feel so blessed to spend their winters in Hawaii visiting family and friends, exploring and of course photographing weddings, children and families and high school seniors in the natural beauty of the Islands. They also spend a few weeks a year in Los Angeles, CA working and playing in the fast-paced West Coast lifestyle and look forward all their destination sessions.

Tonia and Josh with their family.

It was love at first sight for Tonia when she first met Josh in sophomore year math class; she just knew he was the one. After graduating early, Tonia Cummings joined Hudson’s Photography in May of 2006. She is the voice on the other side of the line. Tonia and Josh married in July of 2006 and added son, Isaac on Feb of 2007 and daughter, Abigail in June of 2011. Isaac is a fun-loving, free spirit. He’s laid-back and casual like his dad and just so sweet with his little sister. He fills his free time playing with The Rifleman, guns, dinosaurs, fishing and exploring the woods with his dad. Abigail definitely knows who’s boss, why her of course! With an opinion of her own, she keeps her mom on her toes and laughing the whole way through. Her free time is spent with Minnie Mouse, Disney Princesses, and Dora the Explorer.

Together we are the Hudson’s Photography team, and we’re glad to help you in any way we can. Whether you’re looking for the all-out WOW factor or just a sweet and simple documentation of special moments in your life, we’re here to capture your life as art.
